Temporary, glue-in hair extensions are a relatively easy way to experience longer, thicker hair. They will last up to six weeks with proper care and maintenance and can be replaced easily. Change your look as often as you like with hair extensions that can be applied with bonding glue.

Clip all of your hair high on your head. Starting about one inch above the nape, use the pick to make a straight, horizontal line in hair from one end to the other.

From one end of the extension track, measure the amount of hair needed to cross the back of the scalp. Cut a piece of the track a little smaller than this length, as you do not want ends of extensions flipping up beyond your natural hair.

Make a line of bonding glue along the weft of the piece of extension hair you have just cut. Wait 30 seconds before applying so that glue will not drip.

Press and hold track with glue at the base of your natural hair that you have horizontally parted. Be sure to press along every part of the track to avoid air bubbles or loose spots. Try to avoid getting bonding glue on other parts of the hair, as this causes sticky tangles and may have to be cut out.

Take the wig or hair piece and brush it out. Make sure there are no knots or anything and the hair is laying flat. Wet the hair either by submersing it under water or spaying it with a spray bottle.

Once the hair is completely wet and brushed out, now it’s time to roll the hair into the foam rollers. Make sure the hair is brushed flat as you wind it around the rollers. If the hair is kinked while it’s rolled it will have some non desirable results. Be careful during this step and keep close attention.

Let the hair dry. If you place it in the warm sun, it may take about 1-2 hours. If you don’t leave it in the sun, leave it overnight to dry. Make sure it’s completely dry and then you can remove the rollers and style! Enjoy!

Wash your hair regularly in warm water and use a deep conditioner.

Eat a balanced diet. Nutritional deficiencies, eating disorders and excessive amounts of certain vitamins, such as A and E, can cause hair loss.

Take care of your health. Chronic illness, high fevers and infections can contribute to hair loss.

Stay away from harsh chemicals – permanent hair color and perms are the most damaging – and avoid coloring your hair more than once every six to eight weeks

Avoid hairstyles like ponytails and cornrows, which stretch and pull hair.

Keep in mind that it’s normal to lose between 50 and 100 hairs a day.

Consult your general physician or dermatologist regarding concerns about hair loss.

Women always seek to have more control over their tresses. That is why wigs have always been a popular mainstay throughout history. However, over the years new ways of styling hair have been created through hairpieces and hair extensions.

Women always seek to have more control over their tresses. That is why wigs have always been a popular mainstay throughout history. However, over the years new ways of styling hair have been created through hairpieces and hair extensions. Human hair extensions, once affordable only to the most wealthy, are now available to almost any budget. The easiest kind to do yourself is the type simply clips into the hair. They can be applied and removed easily by even the most novice among women.

Instructions:

Purchase the type of clip-in human hair extension desired. There are multiple brands on the market as well as many different types. Popular human hair extensions brands include Hair Do by Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Raquel Welch, EasiXtend and others. Types of hair extensions vary from brand to brand. Among the most popular are the following. Topper extensions fit at the crown of the head and are meant to provide more height and lift. Side insert extensions are typically narrow (about 2 to 4 inches in width) and meant to fill in thinning spots. Full spectrum inserts fit around the head from side to side and are typically meant to add volume and length.

Take the extensions to be cut and colored to match your hair or do the job yourself. Some of these come in a limited number of colors, but human hair extensions can be dyed to match your hair or used to add highlights or lowlights.

Wash your hair with a shampoo that will not leave a film or residue behind. Excess oils and residue will keep extension glue and tape from holding properly. Make certain your hair is dry before applying the extensions.

Section off the part of the head where the extension is to be placed. For example, for a topper, section on the top one or two layers at the crown. If more than one layer of extensions will be applied, start at the bottom layer and work up toward the crown of the hair. Clip your natural hair upward and out of the way while the extension is being applied. Be sure to allow enough of your own hair in the sectioned off piece to cover the extension once it is in place.

Apply the hair adhesive to the extension piece according to the adhesive’s instructions. Press the extension into place carefully. Let it set for the appropriate amount of time (according to the instructions) and then check to make certain the extension will hold. For clip-in extensions, open the clip and insert it into the hair, being careful not to pull or break any hair. Close the clip into place and make certain it is secure.

Unclip your natural hair and cover the extension with it. If necessary, back comb or tease your own hair slightly in order to ensure the extension will not show through.

Continue clipping in the extensions following these steps until all of them have been appropriately applied. Remember to work from the nape of the neck to the crown and sides of the head.

Style the hair as desired.

Hair extensions used to be something no one talked about until many celebrities started using them. Extensions are heaven-sent remedies for women who want long hair in an instant. Hair experts recommend hair extensions not longer than twenty-two inches or proper hair extension care will not be administered.

Before getting extensions, know the different types available and how to properly care for them. Synthetic and human hair extensions have different treatment methods that can be harmful if applied to the other, so know the right hair extension care before you decide on getting extensions.

You might think that taking care of hair extensions is difficult and time-consuming; well it is not as long as you keep in mind what your hairdresser told you to do. Here are just a few tips on hair extension care that will help to keep your extensions and your hair in a better condition:

Washing your hair will keep it tangle-free and clean from dirt and sweat build up. Hair tangles when dirt and sweat build up, so wash your hair after strenuous activities like exercising, biking, running, swimming, etc. It is recommended to brush your hair and remove all tangles before washing it.Wash your hair in a downward motion and ask your stylist what shampoo is best for your hair. Gradually wet the hair and brush gently before you completely wash it. This is more common with less expensive extension hair. Too much water added at once to very dry hair will make it swell up and tangle.

Use a soft bristle brush when styling or brushing your hair starting at the ends of the hair gently working your way up. Always brush your hair gently in a downward motion 2 or 3 times a day. Be careful with the use of blow dryers and curling irons for they shorten the duration of your extensions. Just letting your hair dry naturally is an effective hair extensions care.

In exercising, wear your hair up or in a ponytail to avoid sweat from wetting your hair. Also wear a cap when swimming or keep your hair out of the water. Chlorine and salt water can cause the hair to tangle and mat up.

Make sure your hair is completely dry before sleeping. Also wrap your hair together or gently tie it up to prevent tangling during sleep.

Hair care products like a good conditioner can keep your hair soft but avoid overdoing it. Too much conditioner or any other hair care product can cause a build up and tangling. Do not use hair products with alcohol content for it makes hair dry. Consult your stylist on the best products that suit your hair extensions care.

Enough of those other hair treatment, let your stylist take care of that. Do not perm, color or do any other chemical process to your own hair extensions for it might just ruin everything.

Getting hair extensions can be fulfilling if you consult a hair expert who knows more about your hair than you do. Ask him the type of extension that best suits you whether it is synthetic or human hair, plus the hair extensions care that will help you in flaunting your beauty inside and out. Growing your hair naturally may be the best thing to do, but acquiring lustrous hair in an instant is not bad at all as long as you go to the right person.

The Basics of Taking Care of your Hair

Following this basic guide you will see results in the improvement of your hair immediately.

Always use the right hair products for your hair type. If you are unsure of what your hair type is ask your stylist.

Always wash your hair when it is dirty.

Trim your hair every 6 to 8 weeks.

Very hot water damages your hair, wash your hair with warm to cold water.

Towel dry your hair with care.

Make sure you use heat protecting products on your hair designed for use with your flat iron or hair dryer. This will greatly reduce the damage done to your hair.

De-tangle and brush your hair delicately, remember that it breaks easily. Use a comb on wet hair.

Use brushes made of natural bristle. They are quite expensive but it is a one off cost as they last forever and are very good for your hair.

Apply an intensive hair masque once a week. Make sure it is suitable for your hair type.

Let the hair dry naturally whenever possible.

Normal Hair

Normal hair has natural volume and is easy to brush as it molds easily and has elasticity. It is neither too thick nor too fine.

Use a ph neutral shampoo.

Wash your hair every 3 days or only when dirty. It is not necessary to wash it everyday.

Pay special attention to the ends of your hair when conditioning it.

Use a ph neutral shampoo.

Apply a deep conditioning hair masque at least once a month

Dry hair

Use a hyrdating shampoo especially formulated for dry hair.

Always apply conditioner to your hair. Use conditioners for dry hair with hydrating oils like olive oil or almond

Use a deep conditioning masque for dry hair at least once a week. A good idea is to keep it on for a few hours and place a shower cap or plastic wrap over it. This will help the proteins penetrate the hair.

Try to avoid whenever possible the sun, chlorine and saltwater.

Use a silicone serum at the ends of your hair to keep them smooth.

If you are going to use a hair dryer make sure you use the lowest setting.

Always brush your hair with extreme care

Oily Hair

Oily hair appears dirty very quickly. It does not keep hairstyles very easily.

Wash your hair frequently

Avoid aggressive hair products and use shampoo for oily hair.

Adding highlights or dying your hair will help dry it up a bit so that it appears less greasy.

Add astringents to your hair to help regulate the oil in your hair and give you a natural shine.
